Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult season, managing just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.
His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with former mentor his previous coach.
Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.
It is his first trophy after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface from that period of 2023.
Victory also means Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to get a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.
The player's defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and play positively, supported by an improved serving game.
The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to create a decider.
He rescued four early-game chances in a close final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Fittingly, he clinched victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
